Continuing Medical Education program titled "Sports-Related
Concussions: When Medicine and Sport Meet Head On".
The NHLPA would like to commend mdBriefCase and the developers of the

distributing an interactive CME program that will aid front-line
physicians in the recognition and management of patients with
The program was developed by Dr Charles Tator, Professor of Neurosurgery
at the University of Toronto and Founder of ThinkFirst Canada, and Dr
Michael Clarfield, Director of Sports Medicine Specialists in Toronto
and former Head Team Physician of the Toronto Maple Leafs (1989-2004).
With already 2,600+ participants, the program provides Canadian
healthcare professionals with the tools and knowledge to properly
recognize and counsel patients with a suspected concussion.

The program, accredited by the College of Family Physicians, reviews
both the Return to Play and Return to Learn Guidelines. Tools such as
the SCAT2 are further explored with a patient simulation video
available featuring Dr Clarfield.
Drs John Axler, Carl Fournier and Pravinsagar Mehta rounded out the
planning committee to provide a national perspective to the program.
