Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) Selected as a Success Story by the Navy SBIR Program

Monday, April 29, 2013 8:55 AM

ARLINGTON, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/29/13 -- Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) announces its recognition as a "small business success story" by the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program of the Navy. IDT was selected for its contributions in automated software testing under the SBIR Topic, "Tools for Rapid Insertion or Adaptation of Combat System Capabilities."

IDT's automated software testing methodology and product suite, Automated Test and Re-Test (ATRT), fully support the rigorous test processes used during the verification of the Navy's software systems. ATRT accelerates test execution and reporting time while expanding test coverage and test complexity. As a result, ATRT is becoming a key enabler for the Navy to more rapidly field combat system capabilities.

"Testing is becoming the most time-consuming and costly phase of delivering capability to the Fleet. ATRT addresses this need and has consistently demonstrated productivity improvement of greater than 75%," said Bernie Gauf, CEO of IDT.

The Navy has leveraged the advances in testing provided by ATRT across NAVSEA, NAVAIR, and SPAWAR.

The SBIR program was established by Congress to strengthen the role of innovative small businesses in federally-funded research and development. One of the program purposes is to stimulate technological innovation. A component of the overall Department of Defense (DOD) program, the Navy's SBIR program is targeted at addressing the needs of the Navy and its System Commands (SYSCOMS).
