NEW HEATHER'S PICKS, INDIGO SPOTLIGHT, EXCITING TITLES & NEW RELEASES

The Indigo Spotlight program introduces readers to a new standout title every month selected and curated by our expert book buyers.

We're pleased to announce that October's Indigo Spotlight title is Five Days at Memorial by Sheri Fink. The Pulitzer Prize winner follows the tradition of the best investigative journalism in this story about patient deaths at a New Orleans hospital ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Indigo CEO and Chief booklover, Heather Reisman has selected four new Heather's Picks for the month of October:

  • Jo Baker's Longourn is the below-stairs answer to Pride and Prejudice: a story of the romance, intrigue and drama among the servants of the Bennet household. The novel reimagines the Jane Austin classic and offering an illuminating glimpse of working class lives in Regency England.

  • Amanda Lindhout's memoir A House in The Sky tells the true story of how curiosity led her to the world's most beautiful and remote places, its most perilous countries and then into fifteen months of harrowing captivity.

  • Burial Rites is the brilliant literary debut by Hannah Kent: Inspired by a true story about the final days of a young Icelandic woman accused of murder in 1829.

  • Set in World War II, Wayne Grady's Emancipation Day is an arresting, heartwrenching novel about fathers and sons, love and sacrifice, race relations and a time in our history when the world was on the cusp of momentous change.

Other exciting titles released during the month of October include:

  1. Chris Hadfield's An Astronaut's Guide To Life on Earth; Oct. 29
  2. Bobby Orr's My Story; Oct. 15
  3. Malcolm Gladwell's David & Goliath; Oct. 1
  4. Veronica Roth, Allegiant; Oct. 22
  5. Helen Fielding, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy; Oct. 15
