SuperNova Diagnostics®, a diagnostics company based in the Washington DC area, has found a China distribution partner in Shenzhen Kang Sheng Bao Bio-Technology Co., Ltd., also a diagnostics company. SuperNova's AmpCrystal® platform combines liquid crystal displays and a proprietary technology. When the diagnostics are triggered, the lights are bright enough to be seen by the naked eye and remain visible for days, according to the company.
SuperNova, which is still in development stage, was formed in Hong Kong, and its venture backers include two Hong Kong investors, HDC Holdings (Hong Kong) and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, along with Imprimatur Capital of London.
The company intends to apply its technology to both human and non-human targets, though the non-human applications will be developed first, because the pathway to the market is shorter.
The company says its diagnostic tests offer cost savings because they produce strong signals. Since they do not require amplification, the tests are relatively easy to manufacture. Also, without amplification, the signals contain fewer errors. SuperNova also said its technology can be integrated into a variety of existing systems.
The company did not predict when it would begin marketing products. Financial details between the two partners were not released.
