Sector Scan: Mobile Telecommunications And Gold Mining Sectors Rise, Clothing & Accessories Sector Loses

Mobile telecommunications sector added 0.98 percent to emerge as the market's best performing sector, closely followed by gold mining sector with 0.97 percent gain. Clothing and accessories industry lost 3.29 percent to become the day's worst performing sector.

Among major movers in the mobile telecommunications sector, iShares Dow Jones US Telecom (NYSEArca: IYZ) gained 0.04 percent or 1 cent to trade at $25.10. Among major stocks, shares of Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S) added 2.91 percent or 16 cents to trade at $5.48. Shares of American Tower Corp. (NYSE: AMT) were up 2.65 percent or $1.38 to trade at $53.46.

In the gold mining sector, Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSEArca: GDX) added 0.92 percent or 54 cents to trade at $56.11. Among major stocks, Vista Gold Corp. (AMEX: VGZ) shares gained 3.58 percent or 10 cents to trade at $2.89. Shares of US Gold Corp. (NYSE: UXG) were up 2.59 percent or 17 cents to trade at $6.73. Shares of Allied Nevada Gold Corp. (AMEX: ANV) added 2.01 percent or 69 cents to trade at $34.95.

Among major movers in the clothing and accessories sector, shares of G-III Apparel Group, Ltd. (Nasdaq: GIII) slipped 5.21 percent or $2.25 to trade at $40.93. Shares of Carter's Inc. (NYSE: CRI) lost 4.56 percent or $1.36 to trade at $28.49. Shares of Phillips-Van Heusen Corp. (NYSE: PVH) were down 5.11 percent or $3.53 to trade at $65.54.
