Congress Finds A Sack

 June 15, 2011 02:44 PM

Now the question is, does it have peanuts or walnuts in it?

A bipartisan group of House members announced on Wednesday that it is filing a lawsuit charging that President Obama made an illegal end-run around Congress when he approved U.S military action against Libya.

Absolutely true.  The War Powers Act requires Congress to approve within 90 days; the intent is to allow "hot pursuit" and similar sorts of actions but not a unitary declaration of war, which is a power that belongs to Congress and not the Executive.

The problem with this sort of "sue sue sue" approach is that Congress can cut off the money immediately.  So what this says is that "right now" Congress lacks the stones to actually enforce this through the process it has, and therefore you have Critters looking for "new ways" to accomplish the goal.

Find a pair of Walnuts Congress; Peanuts will not do.

Oh, and incidentally, the same problem exists when it comes to our debt and budget.

You need to grow a pair of Walnuts there too and say no more Federal debt - period.
