Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE), a leading manufacturer of sports wear and accessories, reported its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings after the market closed. It registered an increase of 14 percent in its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings to $594 million, or $1.24 per share from $522 million, or $1.06 per share, a year earlier. During the quarter, revenue rose to $5.77 billion from its previous $5.08 billion. Analysts had estimated earnings of $1.77 per share on revenue of $5.53 billion for the company. Shares added 0.54 percent or 44 cents to close at $81.62.
Standard Microsystems Corp. (Nasdaq: SMSC), a global supplier of semiconductor solutions that distribute video, sound, photos and data in the home, automobile, office and factory, reported its fiscal first-quarter earnings today. It registered net earnings of $6.2 million, or 26 cents per share during the quarter, compared to $0.6 million, or 3 cents a share a year earlier. Revenue during the quarter rose to $103.5 million from $101.3 million previously. Analysts forecasted earnings of 29 cents per share for the company. Shares added 2.48 percent or 58 cents to trade at $24.40.
Progress Software Corp. (Nasdaq: PRGS), that supplies business application platform, is scheduled to report its fiscal second quarter earnings tomorrow. Analysts forecast earnings of 38 cents per share for the company. It has a market capitalization of $1.56 billion and P/E ratio of 23.09. It has 66.21 million outstanding shares. Shares were down 0.43 percent or 10 cents to close at $23.24.
