Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM), an American multinational oil and gas corporation, and parent of Esso, Mobil and ExxonMobil companies around the world, reported its fiscal 2011 second quarter financial results today. It registered 41 percent increase in its net income to $10.68 billion, or $2.18 per share, from $7.56 billion or $1.60 per share a year earlier. During the quarter, the company's revenue grew 36 percent to $125.5 billion. Analysts had estimated earnings of $2.33 per share for the company. Shares slipped 2.17 percent or $1.81 to trade at $81.49.
Thomson Reuters Corp. (NYSE: TRI), world's leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals, reported its fiscal 2011 second quarter financial results before the opening bell today. During the period, the company registered 91 percent jump in its net income to $572 million, or 67 cents per share, from $297 million or 35 cents per share a year earlier. Revenue during the quarter rose 7 percent to $3.45 billion. Analysts had estimated net income of 49 cents per share on revenue of $3.24 billion for the company. Shares gained 3.83 percent or $1.29 to trade at $34.93 in the opening session.
Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S), a leading telecommunications company based in Overland Park, Kansas, reported a loss for 15th consecutive quarter today. It registered net loss of $847 million or 28 cents per share in its fiscal 2011 second quarter, compared to net loss of $760 million or 25 cents per share a year earlier. Consolidated revenue of the company during the quarter was $8.3 billion. Analysts had predicated a loss of 12 cents per share for the company. Shares slumped 16.18 percent or 83 cents to trade at $4.32.
Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE: TWC), a global leader in media and entertainment with businesses in television networks, filmed entertainment and publishing, reported its fiscal 2011 second quarter earnings. It registered 23 percent increase in its Q2 net profit to $420 million, or $1.24 per share, from $342 million or 95 cents per share a year earlier. During the quarter, the company's revenue rose 4.4 percent to $4.94 billion. Analysts had forecasted earnings of $1.16 per share on revenue of $4.94 billion for the company. Shares slipped 2.72 percent or $2.08 to trade at $75.02.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (NYSE: GT), a leading manufacturer of car, truck, farm, racing, aviation and OTR tires, reported its fiscal 2011 second quarter earnings. It registered 43 percent increase in its Q2 net income to $40 million, or 16 cents per share, from $28 million or 11 cents per share a year earlier. The company's earnings were helped by a 24 percent increase in its sales. It earned net sales of $5.6 billion during the period. Shares gained 4.31 percent or 74 cents to trade at $17.84 in the opening session.
Cytokinetics Inc. (Nasdaq: CYTK), a leading clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, will report its fiscal 2011 second quarter today after the closing bell. Analysts estimate a loss of 11 cents per share for the company during the quarter. It has a market capitalization of $93.24 billion, with 64.16 million outstanding shares. Shares added 2.44 percent or 3 cents to trade at $1.26.
