(By Balaseshan) Limited Brands Inc. (NYSE: LTD), which operates in a specialty retail business, said its comparable store sales for the month of November increased 5% on top of last year's 7% gain.
Comparable store sales from Victoria's Secret Stores rose 4%, while store sales from Bath & Body Works increased 6%. Same-store sales from La Senza gained 5%.
Limited Brands reported net sales of $922.0 million for the four weeks ended Nov. 24, 2012, up from net sales of $872.6 million last year.
The company operated 2,632 stores in the U.S. as on Nov. 24, 2012, compared to 2,623 stores at Jan. 28, 2012. Total Limited Brands-operated stores declined to 2,895 stores at Nov. 24, 2012 from 2,941 at Jan. 28, 2012.
Limited Brands reported a comparable store sales increase of 7% for the 43 weeks ended Nov. 24, 2012. The company reported net sales of $7.525 billion for the 43 weeks ended Nov. 24, 2012, compared to net sales of $7.721 billion last year.
November 2011 and 2011 year-to-date sales included $13.1 million and $702.4 million attributable to the third party apparel sourcing business, which was sold in November 2011.
The company is a specialty retailer of women's intimate and other apparel, beauty and personal care products and accessories. It sells merchandise through specialty retail stores in the United States and Canada, which are primarily mall-based, and through Websites, catalogue and international franchise, license and wholesale partners.
LTD closed Wednesday's regular session up 3.42% at $50.79. The stock has been trading between $37.57 and $52.20 for the past 52 weeks.
