(By Balaseshan) Dividend announcement by companies on Thursday include: CVS Caremark, Dow Chemical, W.P. Carey, Piedmont Natural Gas, Pier 1 Imports, Wolverine World Wide, and Valassis Communications.

CVS Caremark Corp. (NYSE: CVS) has increased quarterly dividend by about 38% to $0.225 per share, payable on Feb. 4 to shareholders of record on Jan. 24, 2013. The stock, which has been in $36.44 to $49.80 range for past year, is currently trading up 1.87% at $48.43.

W.P. Carey Inc. (NYSE: WPC) has raised fourth-quarter distribution to $0.66 from $0.65 per share, payable on Jan. 15, 2013 to shareholders of record on Dec. 31, 2012. The stock, which has been in $39.66 to $54.70 range for past year, is currently trading up 0.06% at $48.93.

Pier 1 Imports Inc. (NYSE: PIR) has lifted quarterly dividend by 25% to $0.05 per share, payable on Jan. 30 to shareholders of record on Jan. 16, 2013. The stock, which has been in $12.50 to $21.24 range for past year, is currently trading up 0.89% at $19.25.

Dow Chemical Co. (NYSE: DOW) has declared quarterly dividend of $0.32 per share, payable Jan. 30, 2013 to shareholders of record on Dec. 31, 2012. The stock, which has been in $25.23 to $36.08 range for past year, is currently trading down 0.51% at $30.99.

Piedmont Natural Gas Co. Inc. (NYSE: PNY) has declared quarterly dividend of $0.30 per share, payable on Dec. 31 to shareholders of record on Dec. 24. The stock, which has been in $28.51 to $34.74 range for past year, is currently trading down 0.47% at $31.51.

Wolverine World Wide Inc. (NYSE: WWW) has declared quarterly dividend of $0.12 per share, payable on Feb. 1 to stockholders of record on Jan. 2, 2013. The stock, which has been in $33.30 to $47.99 range for past year, is currently trading down 1.62% at $40.04.

Valassis Communications Inc. (NYSE: VCI) has declared quarterly dividend of $0.31 per share, payable on Jan. 15, 2013 to stockholders of record on Dec. 31, 2012. The stock, which has been in $18.70 to $28.19 range for past year, is currently trading up 0.81% at $27.39.
