(By Balaseshan) Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd. (NASDAQ: NVMI), a producer of integrated process control metrology systems, said it has received metrology tools orders worth over $15 million from several leading foundries.
The company said several leading foundries recently placed orders as part of their production ramp up and development efforts for future technology nodes.
The orders include Nova's most advanced integrated and stand alone metrology tools and NovaMARS modeling software with extended capabilities to assist customers to overcome the advanced process requirements in light of shrinking geometries and complicated 3D structuring.
The tools will support manufacturing ramp up and capacity increase in multiple process steps as well as development efforts for their next generation technology nodes. The company expects to ship the tools during the current and next quarters.
"We are delighted with this large order stream from the world leading foundries that continue to ramp aggressively in order to meet the demand for smart phone, tablets and mobile computing markets," said Eitan Oppenhaim, Executive Vice President of Global Business at Nova.
Oppenhaim said the company's integrated and stand-alone services portfolio optimally supports the challenging needs of foundries at 28nm and 20nm with future extendability to 1X technology nodes.
NVMI closed Monday's session down 2.16% at $7.69. The stock has been trading between $6.82 and $9.28 for the past 52 weeks.
