NASDAQ OMX (NDAQ) To Combine Market Technology And Corporate Solutions Businesses

(By Balaseshan) NASDAQ OMX Group Inc. (NASDAQ: NDAQ) said it will combine its Market Technology and Corporate Solutions businesses for improving client offering and advance technology leadership position.

The new business unit -- called Global Technology Solutions -- includes Market Technology and Corporate Solutions, and will be led by Anna Ewing, executive vice president, Global Technology Solutions, NASDAQ OMX.

The company expects the combination to drive growth across its technology businesses and advance its market position by leveraging global distribution and scaling its products and services.

NASDAQ OMX plans to treat the combined Market Technology and Corporate Solutions businesses as a separate reporting segment effective January 1, 2013.

In addition, the company said it has appointed Bradley Peterson as global chief information officer (CIO), effective February 6.

Most recently, Peterson was CIO for Charles Schwab Corp. (NYSE: SCHW) where he and his team developed and launched Schwab's mobile brokerage and banking applications.

NDAQ is trading up 0.97% at $27.11 on Thursday. The stock has been trading between $21.03 and $27.34 for the past 52 weeks.
