My rating and comments only apply to buying corportate bonds at E*Trade. I know nothing about how they would be for stocks or options. (My guess is that IB or others would be better.)
But for corporates, E*Trade is the best in terms of providing inventory and trading tools.
I have accounts with Fidelity, Scottrade, Zions Direct (aka, Bonds for Less), and IB. So I have a basis for comparison. Also, I've had accounts in the past at Schwab and AmeriTrade, BrownCo (now defunct) and Harris Direct (now defunct).
