Ah, bailout nation beckons for yet another group - insurers. Our pockets are endless.... the Wall Street Journal takes a look at the decision ahead by government on whether to bailout insurance companies. It appears they aren't under as strict rules as the banks to mark their assets properly so a ticking time bomb sits in the closet. If/when they are required to price things "accurately" - well that's where your tax dollars might be coming in. Interestingly, this was an area where Ken Heebner of CGM Funds fame was putting his money last quarter... Anyhow, please break open your child's piggy bank - the government needs more of your money. Trico Marine Services Inc. (NDAQ: TRMA) directors may be forced to fight for their job after an activist shareholder opposition to the company’s current plans. ACL Laying Off 10 Percent of Jeffboat Workforce

Jul. 21--American Commercial Lines Inc., is laying off nearly 10 percent of its workforce at its Jeffboat Manufacturing Division.
"It's really in response to a prolonged economic downturn and an environment of fluctuating demand at Jeffboat," he said.
With the demand for new manufacturing down the cuts were somewhat expected.

American Commercial Lines Announces Third Quarter Results

American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLI) ("ACL" or the "Company") today announced results for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2009.
Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization ("EBITDA") for the third quarter of 2009 was $22.4 million, with an EBITDA margin of 10.4%, compared to $49.6 million for the third quarter of 2008 with an EBITDA margin of 15.8%.
Results for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 were impacted by three significant non-comparable charges: (i) after-tax debt retirement expenses of $11.2 million or $0.88 per diluted share related to the Company's third quarter debt refinancing, (ii) an after-tax charge of $2.8 million or $0.22 per diluted share related to an impairment charge on the intangible assets of the Company's Summit engineering business and (iii) an after-tax charge of $1.5 million or $0.11 per diluted share related to a customer contract dispute in its manufacturing segment.

SEC Closes Inquiry Involving American Commercial Lines

American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLI) ("ACL" or the "Company") announced today that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has confirmed it will not take action against the Company and has closed an inquiry related to an e-mail sent by the Company's former Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer on June 16, 2007 and disclosed by the Company in the filing of a Form 8-K on June 18, 2007.
The executive ceased being an employee of ACL in March 2008.
The Commission has issued a cease and desist order, consented to by the former employee, mandating that he not violate Regulation FD in the future.

American Commercial Lines Announces Second Quarter Results

American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLI) ("ACL" or the "Company") today announced results for the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2009.
Results for the second quarter of 2009 included after-tax interest costs that were $4.3 million or $0.34 per share higher than the prior year quarter, due to higher effective interest rates than in the prior year, and despite an average outstanding debt balance approximately $40 million lower than in the prior year quarter.
Results of the quarter ended June 30, 2008 included after-tax debt retirement expenses of $1.5 million or $0.12 per diluted share due to the amendment of the Company's credit facility in place during that quarter.
