I’ve commented on Buffett’s Shareholder letter now for the past five years. Those who know me well know that I admire Buffett and Berky, but not uncritically. “The Trader” column highlights Hhgregg (HGG), whose shares have already tumbled 29% this yr. But the co may not be guilty of anything worse than bad timing. For a start, Hhgregg targets a higher-end clientele that appreciates same-day delivery, installation and some personal coddling. Sales and cash-flow growth have been healthy, and it even raised its forecast in Nov. Exports remain one part of the US economy that is still thriving, and fears about the demise of Hhgregg's rust-belt client base may be overblown. LDK Solar Up Strongly on Deal with Q-Cells

LDK Solar (LDK) released news of a 10 year contract with Q-Cells this AM and the stock is up 15%. This contract is good news on a number of fronts, but not necessarily what you'd think (at least in the near term).First, Q-Cells is a legitimite big time player in the solar field. Such a long term deal legitimizes LDK Solar over the longer run - not that it necessarily needed legitimization based on how great the underlying business has been, but with the issues raised by it's former controller, the near term had been called into question. One reason I have continued to like LDK Solar for the mid to long term (despite being hesitant in the near term), is the continued march of new contracts by customers - most of which would be doing due diligence on the viability of LDK Solar as a long term partner. I don’t mean to pick on CNBC but every day they seem to come up with something dumber.Today they are running clips of Gordon Gekko telling Charlie Sheen that fund managers can’t beat the S&P 500 because they are sheep, and sheep get slaughtered. While that is very true, these numbnuts use it as the lead-in to tell you to watch their analysts’ picks of the day! Do they even understand the clips they are showing you? Long dated US Treasuries reversed part of their dramatic gains on Monday, dragged down by worries that foreign investors were actually dumping US debt paper in last week's run-up. According to a Bloomberg report America's creditors actively pursue a diversification of their assets, shifting away from the Federal Reserve Dollar. The next Treasury Inflow Capital data will bring more clues about the amounts moved.Investors are correct by doing so. Last week's flight into US Treasuries was a flight into liquidity but certainly not a flight into safety unless one is satisfied with nominal and not real returns.It appears a bit illogic to consider debt obligations from the biggest debtor the world has ever seen as a safe investment. A.D.A.M. Reports Financial Results for 4Q and Year-End 2008

A.D.A.M., Inc., a provider of health information and benefit technology solutions, announced financial results for its fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2008.
"We delivered profitable operating results even in a challenging economic environment while investing and repositioning the company for long-term growth," said Kevin Noland, President and Chief Executive Officer of A.D.A.M. "We are very pleased with 19 percent growth in our health content licensing business which is a result of people and product investments we made previously.
License revenues for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2008, which include both health content and Benergy products, were $6,367,000 as compared to $6,182,000 for the same period of 2007, an increase of 3 percent, primarily as a result of growth in health content licensing.
