Split Vote OKs Hike in DU Water, Wastewater Rates; Effective Oct. 1

Sep. 15--As of Oct. 1, DU customers will pay more for one of life's necessities -- water.
No resident, industry or business voiced opposition to the proposed Decatur Utilities water and wastewater rate hikes, which split the City Council.
The ordinances adjusting the utility fees narrowly passed Monday night by a 3-2 vote.

DU Nears Decision on Hike in Water, Wastewater Rates

Jun. 20--In two weeks, a year of discussions, research and evaluations will reach a milestone: The Decatur Utilities board will decide whether to move forward with water and wastewater rate adjustments.
During Friday's board meeting, General Manager Ray Hardin said employees evaluate comments concerning the rate study before bringing a resolution to the board.
"We will continue to evaluate and compile the feedback we received and propose final implementation for the board's approval in the next one or two weeks," Hardin said.

If Decatur Utilities approves recommended water and wastewater fees, rates for industries will increase and developers will pay a newly established fee.
DU outlined the financial future of local industries Thursday during discussions with ADL Inc. and Burton and Associates, companies the municipality commissioned to perform water and wastewater rate studies.

Feb. 7--PALM BEACH -- Over the last six weeks, Jews have been beaten, synagogues have been burned and numerous signs, placards and newspaper articles have equated Jews with Nazis, one of the nation's top bigot-fighters said Friday.
Since Israel's December invasion of the Gaza Strip, the hate has spilled to "every country, every city, every community," Abraham Foxman told fellow leaders of the Anti-Defamation League.
"It is not mere protest against Israeli policy; it's attacks on Jewish institutions," Foxman, the ADL's national director, said at the group's annual meeting at The Breakers hotel.

AMDL Inc. Announces Second Quarter 2009 Financial Results

TUSTIN, Calif., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AMDL Inc. (NYSE Alternext US: ADL), a US-based pharmaceutical company with major operations in China, today reported unaudited results and the filing of its Form 10-Q with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") for fiscal second quarter 2009.
AMDL reported a comprehensive loss of approximately $8.0 million ($0.51 per share) in the second quarter of 2009, that included a one-time loss of approximately $4.2 million associated with the sale of YYB -- a wholly-owned foreign subsidiary of AMDL's China-based subsidiary Jade Pharmaceuticals Inc. (JPI), and a $1.9 million provision for doubtful accounts receivable from fourth quarter FY2008 sales of its newly launched Nalefen human placenta extract (HPE) based skin care product.
Sales for the second quarter were affected by commercial production delays for the Company's strongest selling Goodnak(TM) anti-aging injectable.

AMDL has a highly seasonal business that has historically resulted in low first quarter revenues and earnings.
Given this seasonality, our first quarter results were within our expectations.
