Weekly Charts And Trends: Nov 22, 2009

Main Points

EURUSD ST– The volatile consolidation continues.Clear signs of tiredness, but won’t actively look for a broader downside correction until (if) 55-dma at 1.4767 breaks on a close basis.

USD Index– Same respect of 55-dma, particularly with the USD –ve seasonals. A close above the 55-dma needed to call for a broader turn, stands at 76.15, if achieved would be serious.

Gold– Consolidates against the highs. Broader position squaring may cause it to correct but should be very much a buy on the dip.[More...]

CARLSBAD, Calif. - Yahoo Inc.'s chief executive said Wednesday that she is open to joining forces with Microsoft Corp. so both companies can better compete in Internet search, but a deal would need a specific set of terms - including "boatloads of money."

In the past, Yahoo has insisted it needs data culled from search requests to sell the most effective ads and tailor other services to suit its users' interests.

Asked if she would consider selling all of Yahoo, she said, "Oh, they'd have to have BIG boatloads of money."

Although financial services stocks have taken much of the credit for the broad-based market rally that began more than two months ago, technology names may be the safer bet for all kinds of economic scenarios that might lie ahead.

Innealta Portfolio Advisors, which manages the Portfolio Management Consultants' sector rotation strategy, switched its technology sector allocation to stocks on May 7, after having kept all 10 equity-market sectors' allocations entirely in fixed income instead of stocks for the past 18 months.

The four top-weighted stocks in the PowerShares Dynamic Technology Sector Portfolio (PTF) -- Autodesk (ADSK), Apple, McAfee, and Dolby Laboratories (DLB) -- weren't in the ETF during the first quarter, which suggests that those companies have been gaining strength lately.
