The development pipeline is moving forward nicely in our view.? The recent positive phase III data on AZ-004 is a significant milestone for the company. Alexza has six product candidates in clinical stage trials; including leading candidates AZ-001 for migraine headache pain relief and AZ-004 for acute agitation in patients with schizophrenia. Alexza to Secure $19.7 Million in Financing

US-based Alexza Pharmaceuticals has entered into a definitive agreement with various institutional investors to raise $19.7 million in a private placement of its common stock.
Under the terms of the financing, Alexza is expected to sell approximately 8.1 million shares of common stock and warrants to purchase approximately 7.3 million shares of common stock at a total purchase price of $2.4325 per unit.
The investors in this private placement will receive seven-year warrants, exercisable immediately, to purchase 0.9 shares of Alexza common stock for each share of common stock purchased.

The net loss for the three and six months ended June 30, 2009, as reported in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States , was $17.0 million and $23.9 million, respectively, compared to a net loss of $20.0 million and $38.4 million in the comparable periods in 2008, respectively.
