Since I haven't highlighted Notable Calls Network (NCN) for a while now, I thought to give it a go. We caught a nice mover today: American Science & Engineering (NASDAQ:ASEI) was down today following a press release announcing the receipt of partial termination for convenience on its U.S. Government ZBV Military Trailer Order. - The news hit around 9:42 AM ET causing the stock to slide 8 pts in little more than an hour. I noticed American Science & Engineering (ASEI) took off yesterday on 3x normal volume - doing some digging (this was not out as a press release via ASEI) we find a hefty order from the Defense Department. American Science and Engineering, Inc., Billerica, Mass., is being awarded a $67,391,360 firm fixed priced contract for the manufacturing and production of 66 AS&E Z-Backscatter (ZBV) Military Trailers. Work will be performed within the Continental United States, and work is expected to be completed by the end of January 2010. Contract fund will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Today was a pretty boring session for those that stare at their computer screens all day as major stock indexes stayed in a tight volatile range as most pulled back around 1% on lower volume. This was taken to mean two different things for two different class of traders. The bulls championed today’s action because they were able to hold onto the gains after retaking the 50 day moving average. However, on the other end, I heard bears say that the inability of the market to rally further on the gains shows lack of confidence and confirmation on yesterday’s gains. I on the other hand have no opinion and take the market for what it was today. A tight ranged inside day (basically an inside day. American Science and Engineering, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASEI) (AS&E®) will announce its second quarter (ended September 30, 2009) fiscal year 2010 results on Thursday, November 5, 2009 after the market closes.
Anthony Fabiano, President and CEO, and Ken Galaznik, CFO and Treasurer, will host the conference call to discuss the results and respond to questions.
