On November 2, 2009, 150 or so of the global media elite gathered at the Thomson Reuters headquarters in New York’s Times Square to listen to a panel discussion on why media deals fail. During that discussion, Leo Hindery Jr, former cable executive and now partner of investment firm InterMedia Partners said that NBC Universal and Comcast badly needed to strike a deal. The Federal Reserve's balance sheet declined by $15 billion to $2,183 billion from the prior week, after the Fed presumably offloaded $2.7 billion in MBS: this is the first time since QE started that MBS holdings have declined. Farewell IPO window. European construction company Hochtief was forced to cancel the IPO of its concessions business once investors became unwilling to pay more than €20 for the new shares, with the bottom of the range at €24 previously. Furthermore, according to market participants, the company was able to only fill half a book, after management disclosed during a roadshow lunch that the Dubai jitters made finding investors complicated. GE to buy $345 mln of ads from NBC Universal

PHILADELPHIA - General Electric Co. has promised to buy at least $345 million in advertising from NBC Universal over five years after selling a controlling stake in the entertainment company to Comcast Corp., according to a regulatory filing Friday.
In addition, GE is required to buy $50 million worth of ads in connection with the 2012 Olympic Games, whose rights NBC holds.
Comcast disclosed the details in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that also covered terms of GE's divestiture rights for NBC Universal, tax matters, intellectual property and others.
