Brown Family Member to Sell Portion of Nonvoting Brown-Forman Class B Shares

Brown-Forman Corporation (NYSE:BFB)(NYSE:BFA) has been notified that Ina Brown Bond, a Brown family member and former Company director, plans to direct the sale of up to 1,000,000 shares of the Company's nonvoting Class B common stock during the remainder of this calendar year, depending on market and other conditions.
Ms. Bond informed the Company that she remains "as supportive as ever of the Company and management."
The proposed sales would not affect the Company's status as a family-controlled company, as Brown family members would continue to own a substantial majority of the Company's voting stock.

Brown-Forman Increases Dividend for 26th Consecutive Year; Pays Regular Quarterly Dividends for 64 Years

Brown-Forman (NYSE:BFA)(NYSE:BFB) announced today that its Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.30 per share on its Class A and Class B Common Stock, a 4.3% increase over the prior quarter's $0.2875 dividend that was paid on each class.
As a result, the indicated annual cash dividend will rise from $1.15 to $1.20 per share.
Stockholders of record on December 7, 2009 will receive the cash dividend on January 4, 2010.

Brown-Forman Achieves Highest Year-Over-Year Score Increase Among All Companies Rated By the Human Rights Campaign

Brown-Forman (NYSE:BFB)(NYSE:BFA) received a very good score of 85 points out of 100 in this year's Corporate Equality Index (CEI), an increase of 65 points over last year's tally of only 20 points.
The 65-point swing represents the highest score increase achieved by any of the nearly 600 companies evaluated in successive years for their policies and practices affecting gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (GLBT) employees.
Brown-Forman's CEI score escalated in 2009 because the company implemented domestic partner benefits regardless of gender or sexual orientation; created employee resource groups for GLBT, African-American, Hispanic, and female employees; is requiring mandatory training of all employees on diversity and sexual orientation in the workplace; amended its nondiscrimination policy to include transgender and sexual identity expression; and stipulated that its travel & entertainment and relocation policies could not exclude GLBT employees and/or their partners on that basis.

Brown-Forman Shareholders Hold Annual Meeting

At their annual meeting today, Brown-Forman (NYSE:BFA)(NYSE:BFB) stockholders elected directors for the coming year and re-approved the performance measures under the Brown-Forman 2004 Omnibus Compensation Plan.
In his remarks to shareholders, Presiding Board Chairman Geo. Garvin Brown IV thanked former directors Barry Bramley, Donald Calder, and Matthew Simmons, all of whom retired since the 2008 annual meeting, for their many contributions to the company and acknowledged John Cook, a new independent director attending his first meeting of shareholders.
Brown-Forman Chief Executive Officer Paul Varga told shareholders that considering the global economic recession, the company performed well in fiscal 2009.
