Welcome back from the weekend! As the rest of the market returns from the holiday break, we should see more volume and volatility creep back into stocks. Only tomorrow will tell as to whether or not this is a positive or a negative for stock prices. At the moment, futures prices are trading slightly lower. The Dow is off by 44 points, the S&P down 5 points, and the Nasdaq is down 7 points. Crude oil is up another buck, trading at $47.30. NetEase.com, Inc. (NTES) is one of the leading providers of online gaming, advertising, web-based communication services, and a variety of interactive content in China. NetEase is currently trading at 16.8x estimated 2008 EPADR of $1.56, a discount to the industry. Rolling our valuation to fiscal 2009 EPADR estimate of $1.74, the company is trading at 15.1x, which is far below the industry average. NetEase faces intense competition in the gaming and advertising market. Delayed product launches and growing operating expenses have hurt profitability. Altera Corporation (ALTR) reported revenues of $360 million in Q2:FY2008, exceeding our estimate of $347 million, mainly due to growth in sales of new products. EPS of $0.32 beat our estimate of $0.26 and street consensus of $0.27. Gross margin improved to 67.1% from 65.1% generated in the previous quarter, mainly due to a reduction in material and logistics costs as well as sales strength from the Communication and Industrial end markets, which usually carry higher margins. Going forward, third quarter is a seasonally slow quarter for the company and management expects total revenue to remain flat or decline by 3% on a sequential basis. Mill Con Steel to Float First DRs on Taipei Bourse By Year-End

Aug. 7--SET-listed Mill Con Steel Industries Plc aims to float its Taiwan Depository Receipts (TDRs) in Taipei by the end of the year as the first of its kind to be traded in the stock exchange there, say the company's executives.
The Thai company -- which is associated with steel tycoon Somsak Leeswadtrakul -- projects revenue will reach 10 billion baht this year, up from 9.4 billion baht a year earlier, citing reviving steel demand and prices.
The company is preparing to submit the filings to Taiwan's stock exchange and will hold a roadshow in Taiwan later this month, said Sittichai Leeswadtrakul, Mill Con's president and chief executive.
