The phone comes with a 3 mega-pixel camera that enables high-quality VGA video recording in portrait or landscape, which can be edited on the phone itself and shared instantly through email, uploaded to YouTube or transferred to laptops. We believe that Apple's iPhone 3GS, with its video recording capabilities, may have a negative impact on camcorder manufacturers. Bits And Bobs On The Latest Data From Japan

It appears that there is still some green shoots left in the news from Japan even though the underlying picture is one of deteriorating fundamentals. We learned recently how Q1 was absolutely horrid in Japan with out declining at an annualised 15.2% which, I a dread to say, are numbers normally reserved to the likes of the Baltics, Ukraine and Bulgaria. The second quarter will no doubt offer some improvement and the second derivative is likely to be all over the Q2 data in general. However, the real question is what kind of recovery or stabilisation we will observe and as Edward pointed out recently those two things are not the same and what we most likely to see is the latter and not the former. The major Asian consumer electronics companies have now reported their numbers for the first quarter, and industry data for most of the major areas are available. The results, as expected, are not good, with very few growth areas in dollar terms. Canon's (CAJ) revenue was down 32% year over year (Y/Y). Sony's (SNE) revenue declined by 22% and Panasonic (PC) was down by 14.5% The weak US dollar had a significant impact on results since the US is the largest revenue block in the world (China consumes more units, but prices are much lower). This is another post I originally ran on Naked Capitalism last month. As you know, I have turned more positive about the potential for a cyclical economic recovery. However, I am unchanged regarding much of the sentiment expressed in this post - that any upturn must be considered with suspicion because the underlying fundamentals of the U.S. and global economies remain poor (See my post on macro disequilibria to see why). The technology sector has performed better than the broad market recently, which is not saying all that much, but we put together a list of tech stocks that are worth taking a closer look. While some suggest that Tech will lead the market out of the bear market, we are not willing to speculate on that. What I do know is that some of the strongest balance sheets and best growth prospects are in the tech sector. The premise of the Tech 10 is quite simple, using a simple stock screener (in this case Google finance) I separated out these companies largely based on balance sheet strength, and then I crossed the companies with the Ockham valuation framework. In this market many stocks look undervalued compared to historical multiples but only those with great balance sheets can give an appropriate risk/return profile. Dow is down 119, decliners over advancers 3-1 & NAZ is down 23. Grim economic news, highlighted by the GDP report is turning off buyers. S&P 500 FINANCIALS INDEX continues sliding after yesterday's decline, down 1. The Alerian MLP Index fell 2½ taking it pennies under the 200 floor, dangerous territory for those watching technical indicators. REITs are weak while junk bonds are mixed. VIX, volatility index, is up 1 but in the flattish range where it's been for the last week (low 40s). Oil is slightly higher. The US economy shrank at its fastest rate since 1982, sinking deeper into a recession. Gross domestic product (GDP), which measures total goods and services output in the U.S., plummeted at a 3.8% annual rate in Q4, after falling at a 0.5% rate in Q3. SHANGHAI - Asian markets fell back Wednesday on renewed jitters over the economic outlook after Wall Street overnight suffered its biggest loss in five weeks.
European and U.S. stock markets fell Tuesday as the Federal Reserve started its two-day policy meeting that may provide a fresh assessment of how the world's largest economy is faring.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 436.19, or 2.1 percent, to 20,641.05, on heavy selling of shares in big mainland Chinese companies and weakness in mainland-traded shares.

TOKYO - Japanese stocks advanced while those in Australia and New Zealand dipped in quiet trading Friday with most of the region's markets closed and investors awaiting key events in the coming week.
Meanwhile, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.5 percent to 3,769.6, and New Zealand's NZX-50 was off 0.8 percent.
In New York Thursday, the Dow Jones industrial average ended about 17 points lower after President Barack Obama confirmed that Chrysler LLC will be going through a bankruptcy reorganization.

HONG KONG - Asian stock markets advanced for a second day Monday, with Tokyo's index up nearly 2 percent, on cautious optimism that government pledges to heal the financial system and spur growth will reinvigorate the flagging world economy.
Still, erratic trade through most of the session outside the region's two biggest markets - Japan and Hong Kong - reflected lingering uncertainty after a rally last week triggered by upbeat news about Citigroup and other top U.S. banks.
In Japan, financial stocks surged on reports the country's central bank may buy their subordinated loans and bonds to bolster their capital.
