Coca Cola Hellenic Stays a Buy - Analyst Blog

Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (CCH) enjoys an attractive geographic mix with 66% of revenues being derived from developing or emerging markets. In addition, the company's product mix is less dependent on CSDs (carbonated soft drinks) than other bottlers. Since the company conducts business and reports financial results in Euros, much of the stock's performance is inversely correlated with US dollar's exchange rate with the Euro. However, as management has a sound business strategy and proven execution skills, the recent earnings weakness is providing a valuation-based buying opportunity. Therefore, the stock is rated a Buy. Our target price of $25.25 is based on a 14 P/E on trailing 12-month earnings. [More...]

Following Friday's surprising late-session rally, futures indicate a lower open for the mkt amid weakness in Asia, a downgrade of Citigroup (C) and a Q4 earnings warning from home improvement retailer Lowe's (LOW). Dow futures are currently ; Nasdaq futures are currently ; S&P futures are currently . Mkts in Asia closed lower after China's banking regulator told banks to cool loan growth that's already topped its target ceiling of 15% this year. Note, though, that the WSJ reported this morning that Chinese regulators have actually ordered China's commercial banks to freeze lending through the end of the year. In the financial sector, Goldman Sachs downgraded Citigroup to Sell, while cutting its price ests on a number of brokers, including MER, MS, LEH, BSC, JPM and ETFC. It's also worth noting that the Sunday Times reported over the weekend that Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) CEO Fred Goodwin has been informally approached by Citigroup to become its new CEO. No matter what the 50 million Social Security recipients say, there's really an upside to prices going down.
You see the recent news that the cost of living declined 2.1 percent between the third quarter of 2008 and the third quarter of 2009 means Social Security beneficiaries won't get a cost of living adjustment next year.
Another plus: President Barrack Obama has proposed giving Social Security beneficiaries a $250 check next year.

GE, Coca-Cola Hellenic and ContourGlobal Open Cogeneration Plant in Romania

GE Energy and the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company and the energy development company ContourGlobal have inaugurated a new cogeneration plant at Coca-Cola Hellenic's Ploiesti bottling facility near Bucharest, Romania.
GE Energy has said that each of the bottling plants utilizing its Jenbacher combined heat and power (CHP) engines will be able to eliminate up to 40% of their annual CO2 emissions, which demonstrates the ongoing commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of the bottling operations in support of EU goals while also reducing the operational costs by generating their own onsite power.
Under the first phase of the Coca-Cola Hellenic CHP initiative, GE Energy is supplying ContourGlobal, the project developer, with 19 Jenbacher gas engines, representing a total output of 58MW.

Mar. 10--DIB ISSUES STATEMENT REGARDING PROBE: Dubai Islamic Bank today issued a statement in response to the recent announcement from Dubai prosecutors that seven people have been charged with defrauding the bank of $501m.
The alleged crimes were committed by two former employees of the bank and five businessmen linked to a trade finance company known as CCH and a real estate project in Dubai called the Plantation.
The bank acknowledged its exposure to CCH, which has previously received financing of approximately $440m, out of which approximately $330m relates to DIB.

In line with a major initiative by the European Union (EU) to reduce emissions, GE Energy, the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company S.A. and the energy development company ContourGlobal today celebrated the opening of a new cogeneration plant at Coca-Cola Hellenic's Ploiesti bottling facility near Bucharest.
The Romania natural gas-fueled cogeneration plant represents the first of a planned group of 15 combined heat and power (CHP) plants that will be installed at Coca-Cola Hellenic's facilities in 12 European countries.
