Celanese Corporation (CE) is a global hybrid chemical company based in Dallas. The company has a strong growth strategy with development in Asia as a key factor. The continent's contribution to profit is expected to go up from 30% to more than 50% by 2010. Celanese has leadership positions in oligopolistic markets that have solid fundamentals and prices in many key product lines are also increasing. However, Celanese is likely to face slackening demand in 2008-2009 due to a global economic slowdown, combined with exceptionally high raw material and energy costs. This forced the company to withdraw its full-year 2008 earnings guidance. Thus, we rate the shares a Hold with a target of $10, which is 3.2x our 2008 estimate. [More...]

Moodys Corp. (MCO) has a solid franchise in the rating of debt instruments, and has diversified itself with credit research and international growth. This has helped the New York-based company offset declining ratings revenues, which fell 35% in the first half of 2008. However, Moody?s still remains cautious about the recovery in the credit market for the remainder of the year. The current credit crunch is impeding the U.S. economy, which may likely experience a recession as consumer confidence declines. The Federal Reserve has cut rates, however, many people have been shut out of the mortgage market and investors in subprime debt have dried up. Moreover, with inflation concerns, rates are likely to rise from current levels. Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY) is entering a challenging period, brought about by recent pipeline disappointments, most notably uncertainty surrounding its antiplatelet drug, Prasugrel. Although we believe the underlying fundamentals of the company remain solid, pipeline setbacks and lack of clarity on prasugrel will likely limit the upside to the stock. Major retailers like Wal-Mart, Sears and Best Buy are already into the "Black Friday" (day after Thanksgiving) sales frame of mind, in recent weeks offering crazy come-ons like name-brand Windows 7 portable computers for as low as $249, 10 megapixel digital still cameras under $100 and GPS trail blazers as low as $69.
Come Monday, Amazon.com starts running its full array of Black Friday promotions _ four days early!
iSupply notes the average price for a 42-inch LCD TV will fall to $639 in the fourth quarter, down from $768 a year ago, and that pricing for premium brand, 32-inch LCD and 42-inch plasma sets will be as low as $299 and $499 respectively on Black Friday (Nov. 27).
