Virtual Funds: Financial Fund's Ranking/Performance In Q3 '08 And Overall

If you thought that the 3rd quarter was tough for Energy, well, extrapolate that quarter onto a full year and you will understand how the Financials have done. They've been beaten down time and time again this year. Every time they'd try to rally back up, they'd get knocked back down. To a large extent this had been a non-discriminatory beatdown, although high-quality institutions, however discounted they may be now, have still faired much better than the likes of Citigroup and my personal favorite, AIG. Here I will detail the performance of the virtual mutual fund I've set up for the Financial sector on the Marketocracy web site. Corcept to raise $18M in sale of stock and options

MENLO PARK, Calif. - Corcept Therapeutics Inc. said Tuesday it expects to raise about $18 million by selling stock and options to institutional investors.
Corcept said the money will be used to complete enrollment of patients in a late stage clinical trial of its drug candidate Corlux as a treatment for Cushing's syndrome, and to cover the cost of filing for Food and Drug Administration marketing clearance.
Buyers include current Corcept investors such as Longitude Capital Management, Sutter Hill Ventures, Alta Partners and new investors including Federated Kaufmann Funds.

Corcept Therapeutics Announces Pricing of Private Placement Cash Sufficient to Fund Company Through Corlux NDA Submission

Corcept Therapeutics Incorporated (NASDAQ: CORT), a pharmaceutical company engaged in the development of drugs for the treatment of severe metabolic and psychiatric disorders, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with certain existing investors, including Longitude Capital Management, Sutter Hill Ventures and Alta Partners, and new investors including Federated Kaufmann Funds to raise approximately $18 million in gross proceeds in a private placement through the sale of shares of its common stock and warrants.
Corcept intends to use the net proceeds from the offering to fund the completion of enrollment in its Phase 3 trial of CORLUXCopyright for Cushing's Syndrome and the submission of its Cushing's Syndrome NDA, as well as for general corporate purposes, including working capital.
Units will not be issued or certificated.
