Cirrus Logic Inc. (CRUS) is a fabless OEM (original equipment manufacturer) of analog, mixed-signal and digital processing integrated circuits (ICs). The company's Q3 2009 results were in line with the preannouncement, but lower than the previously issued guidance. Expecting further weakness in the top-line growth we are adjusting our numbers downward to reflect this and have reduced our estimates for 2009 and 2010. The seismic product line remains a strong growth area and the revenue opportunity is larger in the near term. This group should maintain its growth even though oil prices have recently declined. Another Day, Another Selloff; Higher Volume On The Selloff Indicates Fear Is Rising

It was yet another day of huge losses for the stock market as most indexes are now down over 45% for the year. This kind of market action is enough to make a lot of people sick. But that is the last thing you want to do here, especially with the selloff starting to slightly hit panic levels. Now, I am not saying that we are near a bottom what-so-ever. But what I am saying is that we are getting a little crazy with the selling and that should lead to a rally in the near term. However, before that rally occurs, I expect that we will more than likely set new lows on all the indexes. One of the reasons I believe that is possible is because after today’s session I saw that ZERO stocks on the NYSE or Nasdaq hit new 52-week highs, while over 415 stocks on each index hit new 52-week lows. We are maintaining our Buy recommendation on Joy Global (JOYG). The global coal market appears strong as supply and demand fundamentals should keep prices elevated for the next several years. This will be a benefit to Joy as it is the world's leading manufacturer of mining machinery in the world. Sales and bookings were impressive in Q3 reflecting producer's positive long-term outlook for coal prices. There have been a lot of road-kills in the graphics business (Chips & Technologies, S3, Cirrus Logic, Tseng Labs come to mind), which is always cyclical, and "owned" by a player or two. For now, nVidia is one of the big two, and will continue to be - till the next major breakthrough in graphics processing creates a new winner (or a new old winner).I had an opportunity to listen to nVidia's mea culpa conference call after announcing earnings that fell short, but weren't as bad as expected. While this is fine and dandy, it just seems too "perfect" to me, and I refuse to believe that the long-term effects of this admitted snafu will last only one quarter. Why am I being pessimistic ?a.
