The following is from Kelly Letter Note 55, sent to subscribers first thing in the morning on Sunday, August 16. We've been watching US Natural Gas (UNG) as a possible buy to track what we believe will be a gradual increase in the price of natural gas when the economy gets back on an earnest growth path. Several subscribers have written to ask if there isn't a better way to buy into the thesis. UNG, they've read and noticed, has not tracked the price of gas well. One suggested alternative is First Trust ISE-Revere Natural Gas (FCG). Instead of tracking the price of gas itself, FCG tracks an index of companies that earn "a substantial portion of their revenue from the exploration and production of natural gas." Growing Stockpiles Weigh on Natural Gas Prices The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported today another 100 billion plus addition to natural gas stockpiles, highlighting the commodity's weak supply-demand fundamentals. Continued strength in domestic production despite the massive retrenchment in drilling activities from last summer's peak level and recessionary industrial demand has resulted in a major storage overhang. As this chart from the EIA clearly shows, natural gas in storage has reached approximately 2.4 trillion cubic feet, which is up 30.3% from last year's level and 21.8% above the five-year range. Thursday May 28, 2009 Navivest A rise in oil prices and positive reception to a treasury auction of 7-year notes, sent the stock market rallying in mid-day trading, after treading water most of the morning. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 103.78 to end the session at 8,403.80, a gain of 1.25%, NASDAQ was up 20.71 to finish at 1,751.79 for 1.20% and the S&P 500 finished the session at 906.83, up 13.77, a 1.54% gain. The markets had a bad day, as the Dow Jones closed down -0.19% to 8,410.65. The NASDAQ was down -0.54% closing at 1754.12, while the S&P was down -0.38% closing at 903.80. Oil and gold were both down settling at $53.84 and $904.30 respectively. The price of the 10-year was down, as yields closed at 3.163%. According to many unnamed sources, American International Group (AIG: 1.73, +0.27 (+18.49%)) will not be one of the supposed ten to nineteen financial institutions that the U.S. government will announce need to raise capital levels. Richmond Index Rebounds

Jul. 1--The stocks of the Richmond area's largest publicly traded companies rallied in the second quarter but not nearly as much as the national indices.
The Richmond index of 20 public companies rose 7.6 percent during the second quarter, which ended yesterday.
By comparison, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 11 percent and the S&P 500 index increased 15.2 percent, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite shot up 20.1 percent.
