“Under Amour’s men’s apparel has run out of growth opportunities. The company gets 35% of its men’s apparel sales, which in total comprise 53% of its revenues, from compression and while Under Amour’s done a lot to broaden athletes’ use of compression, it’s now seeing a lot of competition from other players like Nike and Champion… At Deckers the five largest customers accounted for 30% of worldwide sales in 2008. Under Amour’s banking on two customers — Dick’s and Sports Authority. 31% of their net revenues in which means that Under Amour’s has much less control over its own destiny…Plus Uggs have continued to gain market share at Nordstroms. The company reported strong results for the third quarter, easily beating consensus estimates. Management also increased its guidance for full-year 2008. The upside in the third quarter was due to the continued strength in the company's UGG brand. Even so, we would be careful before getting too bullish on Deckers. - RBC Capital is out with a good call on Deckers (NASDAQ:DECK) saying that despite the the sell-off in shares over the last week, they continue to believe that momentum in the business remains strong and that there is modest upside to consensus estimates for 2Q. In addition, the firm does not view their estimates for the remainder of the year as being particularly risky.While 2Q represents a relatively small quarter (12-13% of revenue and 3-4% of profits), sales trends, particularly at the Ugg brand, remained strong based on channel checks. Jun. 18--DECK SHAVER -- yes, that's his real name and not some sort of scam at the poker tables in Las Vegas -- took over as the new city administrator in Moulton on May 18.
A veteran of both municipal administration and facilities management, Shaver, 51, now oversees the daily operations of the Lavaca County town of fewer than 1,000 residents.
A father of three grown children whose wife, Marion Shaver, will join him Moulton soon, Shaver visited with ranging reporter Sonny Long in his office at Moulton City Hall.
