NetApp Reluctant To Give Guidance

NetApp Inc. (NTAP) reported results for the fiscal first quarter that were pretty decent, but after hours trading has seen the stock is down about 4%. The reason for the sell off in the stock is that the company neglected to give second quarter revenue or earnings guidance due to a lack of visibility. Uncertainty is not a friend to the market, and thus the sell off even though earnings were slightly better than expected. Earnings came in at 22 cents per share (non-GAAP), which equaled the performance of a year ago and was better than analysts expected by two cents. The Market Loves Tech Right Now: EMC

EMC earnings were announced this morning, and like many large-cap tech names, their results were good. Wall Street is particularly happy as it appears tech stocks are poised to be the leadership group to lead the next bull market. (Reuters) EMC Corp, the top maker of corporate data storage equipment, forecast full-year revenue above Wall Street expectations as corporate technology budgets stabilized, sending its shares up 2.4 percent in premarket trading. The company also reported stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings on Thursday, citing its own efforts to cut costs, in addition to the downturn in spending hitting bottom. "Things are stabilizing. Visibility is getting better. The S&P and Nasdaq are modestly higher on Alcoa (AA) results that topped estimates and initial jobless claims that fell to the lowest level since January. That said, continuing claims hit a new high, and that couple with generally weak same-stores sales results looks to be keeping a lid on any buying enthusiasm. Nov. 6--The Appanoose County Board of Supervisors Monday morning all by 3-0 votes approved closing 448th Street in Taylor Township, approved a resolution regarding rates for use of secondary road equipment and labor and approved a change in a zoning ordinance to amend billboard regulations.
Appanoose County Engineer Gary Bishop said 448th Street hasn't been a road as much as it has been a right-of-way.
Rates for county secondary road equipment and operator use between other government entities hasn't been kept up, Bishop said, and this was an attempt to get the rates up-to-date.
