Massive deployment of high-speed wireless networks throughout the world has opened up a new market for telecom outsourcing and managed services for several telecom equipment manufacturing firms. The next-generation (3G/4G) wireless networks are aiming to cope with substantial demand for high-speed wireless data services and mobile video. Telecom service providers are now typically looking at providing the converged IP-based network, offering bundled solutions for triple play voice, video and data. This requires the implementation of complex network architecture. The telecom outsourcing market generally includes network implementation & maintenance, system integration & managed services, and consulting. In order to minimize their costs, carriers try to concentrate on developing new services, implement a service-oriented business model, and marketing. These cities are expected to be the first two markets where 4G services will be commercially available in 2010. This represents a major milestone in the company’s first phase 4G trial process, providing the roadmap for future test launches. Verizon has used its 700 megahertz (MHz) wireless frequency band for 4G data transfer to successfully test applications such as web browsing, voice transmission, video streaming and file upload and download. It is a total network solutions provider, serving wireless and wireline operators, enterprises, and consumers. Ericsson reported higher revenues but lower-than-expected earnings for 4Q08. The company experienced operator consolidation and delays in mobile telecom roll-outs across Western & Eastern Europe, Australia and Japan, which caused its product mix to be more-heavily weighted towards lower-margined products and services. This, along with costs of integration, reduced the company's overall margins and earnings significantly during the 4th quarter.
