Q2 Growth Report - Part 1

Today's Wall Street Journal had an article that asked the question "Can Rally Run without Revenue?" Is the revenue situation really that bad? Let's take a quick look at some the data compiled through the Alert HQ process. After each quarter's earnings season, I try to pull together what I am now calling the Growth Report. Part 1 compiles the list of stocks that have shown a year-over-year increase in both revenue and earnings AND a sequential quarter-over-quarter increase in both revenue and earnings. Kollsman's Parent Co. Involved in Lawsuit

Mar. 1--Kollsman's parent company is tangled in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit over a partnership with the Israeli satellite program.
But it essentially accuses Elbit Systems of defrauding U.S. investors who funded an effort to privatize Israel's bankrupt satellite intelligence program.
The partnership began around 2000, when the Israeli space program was in trouble.

New Jobless Claims Hit Record High in December

Feb. 3--The number of new unemployment claims filed in the state during the month of December was the highest on record.
More than 13,000 people filed an initial claim for unemployment benefits in the last month of 2008, compared to about 7,000 in November, according to the latest statewide data available.
December's total was the highest number of claims in a single month dating back to at least 1990 -- the first year the data was recorded by the New Hampshire Economic and Labor Market Information Bureau.

Net research and development ("R&D") expenses were $53.0 million (7.3% of revenues) in the second quarter of 2009, as compared to $38.1 million (5.8% of revenues) in the second quarter of 2008.
The higher level of R&D expenses in the current quarter reflects increased spending on R&D projects to maintain and further advance the Company's technologies, in accordance with its long-term plans.

HAIFA, Israel, August 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Elbit Systems Ltd. (the "Company") , the international defense electronics company, today reported its consolidated financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2009.
Gross profit increased by 7.2% to $211.9 million (29.1% of revenues) in the second quarter of 2009, as compared with gross profit of $197.7 million (30.3% of revenues) in the second quarter of 2008.
The lower gross profit percentage primarily resulted from a significant reduction in revenues from short turn-around orders, mainly in the U.S. during the second quarter of 2009 as compared to the second quarter of 2008.
