Possible Oil Bottom

As I looked through charts tonight, the big standout was the big volume spike in USO, the oil ETF. Oil has sold off relentlessly since July, and price currently sits way below the 200 day moving average. We have seen generally higher volume during the past week, and extremely high volume today. The ultralong oil ETFs will look especially good if we can break up through the trendline on heavy volume. [More...]

Structural defects in Chinas economy, including overreliance on low value-added manufacturing and export-led growth, have led the PRC leadership to emphasize the importance of indigenous innovation as a national development strategy to sustain Chinas competitiveness and economic growth.
In turn, the government has also begun to view venture capital (VC) as an important means of fostering indigenous innovation.
The result is that large institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals are the primary sources of venture- capital funding in the United States and Great Britain, but the PRC government, enterprises, and foreign funds account for the vast majority of venture- capital funding in China.

Focus Media Reports First Quarter 2009 Results

On December 22, 2008, the Company announced that it entered into a definitive agreement with SINA Corporation ("SINA") to sell substantially all of the assets of Focus Media's digital out-of-home advertising networks, including the LCD display network, poster frame network and certain in-store networks.
As a result of the above transaction, these lines of business have been accounted for as discontinued operations in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Therefore, non-GAAP financial measure for discontinued operations in the first quarter of 2009 excluded not only the non-cash share-based compensation, acquired intangible asset amortization expense resulting from acquisitions, impairment charges of goodwill, acquired intangible assets and fixed assets but also depreciation expenses of fixed assets.
