Second, we've been saying the indexes are not reflecting the carnage seen "underneath" - my watch lists are full of names in the $500M to $5B market cap space which is my sweet spot, and it looks like September 2008 . Here is a sampling of what is really happening when you move away from McDonalds, IBM, Walmart, and Microsoft.[More...]

Cramer Gets Behind Fuel Systems Solutions (FSYS) - Again

One of the better earnings report this quarter was from one of our old holdings - Fuel Systems Solutions (FSYS). This was a sort of secondary play on the commodity mania we enjoyed in latter 2007 through summer 2008; they make natural gas fuel systems. We dropped the last portion of our position in September 2008 at $46 with a nearly $23K gain (in our old portfolio in Marketocracy.com) Sometimes we forget what sort of times we lived through in September and October 2008 (20% drop in 1 week on the indexes) and again in mid Jan - early March 2009, but the stock fell as low as $10. <img[More...]

On the day the Dow was down 34.68 at 8881.26, about 70 points off its high. The S&P 500 fell 0.51 at 954.07, nearly 6 points off its high, and the Nasdaq 100 was up for the 11th straight session, gaining 11.99 to 1565, about 7 points off its high. That was helped by the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOXX), which gained 7.80, or 2 ½ percent, to 301.77. Advance-declines were 17 to 13 positive on New York and 16 to 10 on Nasdaq. Up/down volume was less than 3 to 2 positive on New York on light total volume of just over 1 billion. However, Nasdaq traded more than 2 ¼ billion and had better than a 2 to 1 positive volume ratio.
Wednesday Earnings Mixed/What I'm Looking to Buy

Looking back to last night, Apple really was solid. I mean in the face of a very difficult time for consumers, Apple continued to deliver, and with a premium brand at that. Consumers are continuing to buy their more expensive computers, and obviously the iphone is just killing it right now. Good for them. I owned that stock about three ipods ago, but haven't recently. The bank's were mixed; The market liked what US Bank had to say, and Wells Fargo, not so much. Pfizer looked pretty solid to me. They slightly raised full year estimates, which is great in this market. They also reported that the Wyeth purchase has been approved by shareholders, of which I am one. I'll break down some more individual stuff later today, but just wanted to give a quick update as to what I'm watching: -I rarely buy when the market surges like it has the past few days, so that accounts for the lack of activity.[More...]
