DOHA MARKET REBOUNDS 1.60 PERCENT ON INDUSTRIES,BANKS: Qatari investors resisted against further losses today, sending the Doha Securities Market (DSM) index up 1.60 percent to 4,887,02 points.
Electricity and Water postes the biggest gain (up 6.64 percent) posted the largest gain.

Mar. 19--Florida Power & Light wants customers to pay an additional billion dollars a year in their base rates, starting Jan. 1 -- and then $247 million on top of that starting in 2011.
"Wow," said Charlie Beck of the Office of Public Counsel, which represents utility customers, when he heard the numbers.
This is the biggest rate increase I have ever seen requested by a utility in Florida.

In a greenhouse several hundred yards away, some of Geib's Pennsylvania State University colleagues are growing rows and rows of designer poplar trees.
One way or another _ whether by tinkering with trees or by borrowing the secrets of beetle larvae that eat them _ these researchers are determined to turn wood into liquid fuel for your car.

Feb. 19--AGILITY-TRISTAR TO BUY SHELL GUAM'S AGAT FUEL FACILITIES: Dubai-based Tristar Transport and US-based Agility Defense and Government Services (DGS) have announced an agreement to buy Shell Guam Inc.'s Agat Fuel Facilities.
The bulk-fuel storage and distribution facilities will be operated by Tristar Terminals Guam, a joint venture owned by Agility DGS and Tristar Transport.
The purchase includes 25 bulk-fuel storage tanks with a combined capacity of roughly four million barrels; five miles of pipeline; and receipt-and-issue facilities.

Feb. 4--KNOC STARTS IRAQ VENTURE: State-run Korea National Oil Corp said it has started an oil exploration project in Iraq on its own, after failing to attract consortium members for the $2.1bn deal, Reuters has reported.
KNOC will operate two oil fields -- Qush Tappa and Sangaw South -- and own stakes of 15 to 20 percent in six fields including the Bazian block in the Kurdish region, which is the only block to be run in a consortium, which includes South Korea's top refiner, SK Energy.
IRAN STOCKPILING FUEL AS PRICES STAY LOW: Iran is storing around 2 million barrels of gas oil on ships even though a mild winter has capped demand, Reuters has reported.

Nov. 29--Where others see only radioactive waste, engineers at TVA and the Department of Energy envision another source of needed energy.
Most of the potential energy in the nuclear fuel used to generate nearly 30 percent of the electricity in the Tennessee Valley remains untapped in spent fuel pools or dry casks at the Sequoyah, Watts Bar and Browns Ferry nuclear plants, said Sherrell R. Greene, director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory's nuclear technology programs.
Although other countries reprocess nuclear fuel, the United States abandoned the technology in 1977 to help curb the proliferation of nuclear weapons that use the plutonium generated in reprocessing fuel.

Nov. 17--Gas prices have plummeted to almost a two-year low in South Florida, but many companies are still tacking fuel surcharges onto their customers' bills.
Leonard S. Stern Plumbing in Coral Gables raised its fuel surcharge to $8 from $5 this summer to cope with soaring costs.
As of Wednesday, the surcharge was likely to "stay status quo," manager Howard Stamen said.

The Company reported a net loss of $243,000 for the third quarter of fiscal 2009, which was an improvement of $1.2 million, or 83%, compared to a loss of $1.4 million for the same period a year ago.
For the first nine months of fiscal 2009, the Company reported a net loss of $391,000, an improvement of $6.0 million, or 94%, compared to a loss of $6.4 million in the prior year.
