Good morning. After last week's plunge, Wall Street is looking and hoping for a relief rally to begin this week. For today, however, trading is expected to be on the light side primarily because of Veterans Day, with the government bond markets closed and little economic and earnings data to ponder. Overall, it has been a quiet morning so far.
GPC Biotech AG (Frankfurt Stock Exchange: GPC) today reported that pre-clinical data on RGB-286638, the Company’s multi-targeted protein kinase inhibitor, are being presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) 100th Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado. Researchers from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center (MGH), Boston, Massachusetts gave an oral presentation entitled, “A Novel Multi-Targeted Small Molecule Inhibitor RGB-286638 Triggers Apoptosis and Necrosis in Multiple Myeloma via Dual Cell Death Pathways.” The data show that RGB-286638 demonstrates in vivo activity in several pre-clinical models of multiple myeloma. The compound also induces cell death in multiple myeloma cells independent from the p53 status; p53 is a gene involved in the control of cell proliferation.[More...]

GPC Biotech Announces Presentation of New Pre-Clinical Data on RGB-286638 Multi-Targeted Kinase Inhibitor at the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting

GPC Biotech AG (Frankfurt Stock Exchange: GPC, NASDAQ: GPCB) today reported that new pre-clinical data on RGB-286638, the Company’s multi-targeted protein kinase inhibitor, were presented at the 50th American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California in a poster entitled, “RGB-286638, a Novel Multi-Targeted Small Molecule Inhibitor, Induces Multiple Myeloma (MM) Cell Death through Abrogation of CDK-Dependent and Independent Survival Mechanisms” (Poster Board II-853). The data presented demonstrate that, in a mouse tumor model, RGB-286638 inhibits the growth of multiple myeloma tumors and prolongs survival. Additionally, RGB-286638 has been shown to trigger apoptosis (programmed cell death) in multiple myeloma cells, including those cells that are resistant to drugs commonly used to treat this form of cancer. The data were presented by researchers at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center (MGH), Boston, Massachusetts.[More...]

GPC Biotech Presents New Pre-Clinical Data on RGB-286638 Broad-Spectrum Kinase Inhibitor at EORTC-NCI-AACR Meeting

GPC Biotech AG (Frankfurt Stock Exchange: GPC, NASDAQ: GPCB) today reported that pre-clinical data on RGB-286638, the Company’s multi-targeted protein kinase inhibitor, were presented at the 20th EORTC-NCI-AACR Symposium: Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics in Geneva, Switzerland in a poster entitled, “RGB-286638 is a novel multi-targeted protein kinase inhibitor with activity in chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) models,” (Abstract #578). The data presented demonstrate that the RGB-286638 small molecule has potent activity against chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in in vivo models that are resistant to imatinib (Gleevec®) and to dasatinib (Sprycel®), the current standards of care for treating this form of cancer. Additionally, RGB-286638 has been shown in vitro to be active against a number of families of protein kinases that are important for the proliferation of cancer cells. RGB-286638 is expected to enter Phase 1 clinical testing this year.[More...]
