Harris Corp (NYSE: HRS): Orders From Pentagon Thawing

Harris Corporation (HRS) reported a better than expected fiscal fourth quarter last night and raised their guidance for the year ahead. These positive results, in addition to some key analyst upgrades today are propelling the stock higher by 15% in Thursday afternoon trading. The Street was expecting Harris to show $.81 in profit for the quarter, but (excluding a one time write-down of goodwill) the company beat those marks by about a dime. More importantly, the company saw orders rebound 22% over the previous quarter, and in all three of the company’s segments. Harris Corp: Downgraded To Underweight At JPM

JP Morgan is out with a substantial call on Harris Corp (NYSE:HRS) downgrading the shares to Underweight from Neutral while lowering tgt to $27 from $37. The firm believes RF sales growth could seriously disappoint as soon as the June quarter, and their estimates are well below consensus for each of the next three years. Relative to other defense companies they follow, Harris is less diversified and enjoys less visibility yet still trades at a premium. RF could roll over as soon as Q4. Six-month sales in RF have typically been ~85% of the backlog at the start of that period in recent years. Harris Adds New Capability to RF-7800M Wideband Networking Radio

Harris Corporation, a communications and information technology company, has announced the addition of a new capability to its RF-7800M wideband networking radio that will enable global-area high-data rate broadband communications between senior commanders and personnel at the tactical edge.
The RF-7800M currently provides advanced voice and data wideband line-of-sight networking capabilities through the Harris-developed Advanced Networking Wideband Waveform (ANW2).
The ANW2 waveform provides warfighters with secure voice transmission, as well as streaming video, biometrics, classified Internet access and other intelligence applications, according to Harris Corporation.
