Tremblant is a $3 billion hedge fund based in New York and is run by Bret Barakett, who is a former portfolio manager at Moore Capital Management (the hedge fund run by the great Louis Bacon, whom we also track). Earnings Review Of Note Monday-Tuesday

Some names I am looking at early this week Monday Fund holdings - Baidu.com (BIDU) and First National Financial (FNF). The former broke through the 200 day moving average Thursday but I cut it down to 1 share on super froth. The latter has been stagnat the past 8 days, with each day an intraday low hitting the 50 day moving average. Very strange. I cut back a bit to a 2.5% stake since I have double jeopardy in these guys with FNF and FAF. Contract Research Organizations Being Taken to Woodshed

It is interesting to watch the bear market come to visit every corner of this market. Up until last week the contract research organizations were one area that were holding up relatively well. Last Tuesday, ICON (ICLR) reported a stellar quarter, reaffirmed guidance ... and it has not mattered one iota as competitors in the space who have reported since have made comments that have caused everyone in the group to suffer. What I love most is how the stronger dollar is used as one of the "problems" for the US based CRO's, and ICON gets hit off that even though they are in Ireland and thus use the Euro - hence should see a tailwind from a stronger dollar/weaker Euro. ICON Earnings Look Excellent On Initial Glance

It has been quite awe inspiring to see even the safety sectors hit this badly - one of them should of been healthcare, but there has been so safety in this storm. I've stuck with contract research organization firms in general, despite eroding charts. ICON (ICLR) continues to execute seemingly unaffected by the credit crisis.
