The development pipeline is moving forward nicely in our view.? The recent positive phase III data on AZ-004 is a significant milestone for the company. Alexza has six product candidates in clinical stage trials; including leading candidates AZ-001 for migraine headache pain relief and AZ-004 for acute agitation in patients with schizophrenia. Oct. 6--Financial institutions are once again promoting unsecured loans on the back of the improving economy and higher consumer spending.
Krung Thai Card Plc has resumed activities in the personal loan market after reducing its business in the sector for a year mainly due to higher risks posed by the recession, said senior executive vice-president Thawatchai Thitisakdiskul.
Bank of Thailand regulations cap the maximum charge at 28 percent per year.

KBank Targets China for Overseas Growth

Oct. 5--Kasikornbank has set an ambitious target for its banking business in China next year, in response to the mainland's robust economic growth.
Pipit Aneaknithi, the bank's first senior vice-president, said KBank would mainly pay attention to its overseas banking business in China next year as the Chinese economy has great potential after posting high growth for years.
The bank expects loans to soar next year at its only branch in China, in Shenzhen.

Sep. 24--Kasikornbank believes it will meet its 2009 loan growth target, thanks to rising loan demand in the second half in line with the economic recovery, said president Prasarn Trairatvorakul.
But recently, loan withdrawals by the projects have slowed down pending a clearer economic climate.
KBank, Thailand's fourth largest bank by total assets, will likely be the first to announce loan expansion for 2009.

Sep. 22--PITTSFIELD -- A west Pittsfield business is vowing to be a much quieter neighbor by minimizing the outside noise emanating from its facility.
Officials at the Ice River Springs water bottling plant at 1505 West Housatonic Street have agreed to muffle -- and at times eliminate -- the sound from a external cooling tower.
"I should have some tangible plans in two weeks," said plant manager Frank Versaggio.

KBank to Offer Factoring Direct to Clients

Sep. 17--Kasikornbank said it would take over factoring services for small business clients from its subsidiary from 2010.
Bank president Prasarn Trairatvorakul yesterday said that starting next year, Kasikorn Factoring would focus more on machinery and equipment financing, including hire-purchase, financial lease and operating lease services.
KFactoring had a market share of 21 percent at the end of 2008, with industry turnover currently estimated at 100 billion baht.

KBank Predicts Flat Corporate Loans: Rebound By Year-End Forecast After 13% Dip

Sep. 15--Kasikornbank expects flat corporate loan growth this year, with a rebound coming in the second half after a sharp 13 percent contraction in the first seven months.
Surasak Dudsdeemaytha, a first senior vice-president for KBank, said the bank's corporate loan book fell to 267 billion baht as of the end of August, down 13 percent from the end of 2008.
The slowdown cut loan demand from large companies and multinationals.

KBank Keen on Trade Finance

Aug. 5--Kasikornbank is aiming for 36 percent growth rate in its international trade business this year, despite the decline in the country's exports and imports.
Songpol Chevapanyaroj, a KBank first senior vice-president, said the bank expected international trade business volume would increase to 3.4 billion baht this year, or 25 percent of the market.
KBank, which booked trade business volume of 2.5 billion baht in 2008, has invested heavily in improving its service platform to improve efficiency and processing time.
