That sounds unbelievable to me. Time did pass very quickly It wasn’t a smooth ride however.
Original Post on The Sun's Financial Diary Is Citi Stock A Buy Now? I heard the news this morning that Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit bought 750,000 shares of Citi stock (C) on the open market yesterday when the share price dropped below $9. In addition to CEO Pandit, other three executives also bought a total of 550,000 shares. Is this the sign of confidence? Currently trading slightly above $9 per share, Citi stock has been hit very hard after the world’s biggest bank by revenue had to write-down billions of bad loans. Since the credit crisis began more than a year ago, Citigroup has lost at least[More...]

China Life Inexpensively Priced - Analyst Blog

China Life Insurance Company Ltd. (LFC) announced disappointing financial results for 1H08 due to the stock market decline in China during that period. It is clear that the company is the market leader (42.8% market share in 1H08) in China's life insurance industry, where opportunities are significant. Despite growing competition as well as volatile capital market, China Life seems to be in a better position than its peers due to the current regulatory environment and its geographical positioning. Further, it has not yet successfully completed its conversion to higher margin products and its current valuation (more so after the recent sell-off) does not fully reflect its growth prospects, in our view. Therefore, we maintain our Buy recommendation on the[More...]

Best Perfomers Over Last Quarter

It is a moot point looking at weekly winners this week; just a handful of stocks moving up led by such growers as Campbell Soup (CPB) aka "people will still need to eat soup if nothing else" trade. So instead I am going to look at the best and worst performers the past 3 months. In this post we have every stock over $1.25B in market cap returning 15%+ (115 stocks) Now keep in mind the data is a bit misleading because 3 months ago at this time we were in the throes of another painful correction, in a series of step ladders down. About 90 days ago Fannie and Freddie and Lehman were falling off a cliff, and we were just over a week away from Hank Paulson going to Congress to create a plan to backup Fannie/Freddie. So this was a "bottom" and the financials rallied hard for the next 6-7 weeks - Fannie/Freddie of course were officially taken over within 2 months from that point.<br[More...]
