LHC Group Inc (NASDAQ:LHCG) is getting comments from RBC and Jefferies after details of a whistleblower lawsuit alleging improper Medicare billings circulate: - Jefferies notes they expect a sharp sell-off in LHC this morning as details of a whistleblower lawsuit alleging improper Medicare billings circulate. While details of the lawsuit will likely cast an overhang on the stock, valuation is already low and there are near-term earnings and reimbursement catalysts that could drive shares higher. Welcome back from the weekend! As the rest of the market returns from the holiday break, we should see more volume and volatility creep back into stocks. Only tomorrow will tell as to whether or not this is a positive or a negative for stock prices. At the moment, futures prices are trading slightly lower. The Dow is off by 44 points, the S&P down 5 points, and the Nasdaq is down 7 points. Crude oil is up another buck, trading at $47.30. Stocks retrace 90% of November 13th’s gains and find support Tuesday’s stock market action was certainly not one for the faint of heart. The awesome volitility seen during the day makes an old wooden rollercoaster look like child’s play. We are seeing extreme pessimism, Wall Street and Main Street continue to be extremely negative on the economy and the stock market. However, from our October ‘07 highs to our November ‘08 lows the market was off roughly 50%. The stock market certainly has foreshadowed a bit worse than what we have seen so far. With that said, the market is always forward looking and we may be setting up for a bear market rally. Friday's close was the lowest since October 2006. The NASDAQ has been carving a symmetrical triangle for 5 weeks. Symmetrical triangles are generally continuation patterns, so Friday's action was no surprise, and probably a welcome relief after all the narrow range trade as price moved closer to the apex. What is a Long Term Investor to do?

I am an investor with a long term outlook. In theory, I will not need my Roth IRA until I retire which could be twenty years away or more. With that long of an outlook, should I worry about the market direction right now? Many may say no, but I want to protect my capital.There is always risk in investing, but right now, the market is suffering from something much worse, uncertainty. Risk is generally quantifiable, but uncertainty is not.
