Mar. 16--Eight hours.
That's the battery life claimed for, and apparently delivered by, the $2,799 17-inch MacBook Pro recently shipped by Apple Inc.
Not having surveyed every last portable computer in the retail channel today, I won't swear to it, but I believe this is the longest notebook battery life out there, at least in terms of a "standard" battery that fits inside the notebook itself.

Mid Penn Bancorp, Inc. Reports Second Quarter Earnings

Mid Penn Bancorp, Inc. (“Mid Penn”) (AMEX:MBP) today reported second quarter earnings of $1,060,000, including per share earnings of $0.30. Earnings for the second quarter of 2007 were $1,179,000 and $0.34 per share. Net income and earnings per share for the first six months of 2008 were $2,233,000 and $0.64 compared to $2,263,000 and $0.65 in the first half of 2007. The modest decrease in earnings resulted from a declining net interest margin, driven by the spreading weakness in the general economy. Mid Penn has also been selectively adding talented employees and enhancing its technological infrastructure to better cope with the changing financial landscape and to continue to offer its customers the tools to meet these challenges.[More...]

Mid Penn Bancorp, Inc. Stock Repurchase Program Terminated

A Mid Penn Bancorp, Inc. (AMEX:MBP) Stock Repurchase Program approved by the Board of Directors in September 2005 will terminate on June 30, 2008. The program allowed for purchases totaling up to 250,000 shares. The Company’s open-market purchases have accumulated 34,504 shares, or just 13.8% allowable under the program, during the 33 months since its inception. Despite a weak general market, Mid Penn Bancorp’s stock price reached 52-week highs during the past week. Due to the limited trading volume, compounded by the recent strong share price, Mid Penn Bancorp’s Board of Directors and management decided at the June 25, 2008 Board Meeting to end this program effective June 30, 2008, and directed management to design a new stock repurchase program, focusing on privately negotiated blocks of stock, to be evaluated in the coming months.[More...]
