Time to Hit the Car Lots

We think it is an excellent time to hit the car lots. Sales are slow, inventories are high, raw materials (steel, chemicals, plastic, rubber) are depressed, and interest rates are near zero. Demand is off due to the credit crunch. Dealers and manufacturers are hurting and are hungry for business. The following list is our list of favorites from the San Diego Car Show. This is our list of All Pros (some are Hall of Famers) from the half a thousand vehicles from around the planet on display there. Emageon, Inc. (EMAG) operates in a mature large hospital picture archiving and communications system (PACS) market. The company might not grow successfully because of the superior financial resources, technical expertise, marketing, distribution, and support capabilities of its competitors. The overall strategic direction of the company is uncertain. A new Strategic Alternatives Committee has a broad mandate to pursue all strategic alternatives including sale of the company. Last April, the prior committee had recommended Emageon to continue as an independent company and focus on improving its core products and services. As the company depends on a small number of customers for a large portion of sales, the loss of any one can adversely affect its financial results. Good morning. Premarket futures are in rally mode on speculation that the Fed was preparing to unveil new plans to boost liquidity. Such actions, if taken, following yesterday's disappointment will most likely irritate market participants even further unless the Fed really does produce some shock and awe to restore its credibility and do it soon. The Federal Reserve Dollar may be in for another big punch. Gulfnews banking editor Babu Das Augustine has raised the possibility that OPEC may switch from dollars to another currency, furthermore reducing the demand for the Dollar which gets shunned by more and more oil producing countries. Morris Restructuring Continues: The Plan Will Require Two Parts of Trades and Refinancing.

Sep. 29--In a filing Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Morris Publishing Group, the Times-Union's parent company, provided details about a pending agreement to restructure $417 million in debt.
The restructuring, described in a company news release Friday, would be in two parts.
But before the bond restructuring, Morris Publishing must refinance $138.8 million in secured debt it owes to banks.
