by Ahmad Hassam There are 100s of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and HOLDRS covering key industry benchmarks such as the various Standard & Poor (S&P) Indexes, Russell Indexes or the Dow Jones Products. There are other ETFs that cover the other less well known narrow based sectors. For example SPY tracks the Standard & Poors 500 Composite Index and is the largest of the ETFs. I am going to start a new series where I occasionally share actionable picks related to my subscription-based newsletter Wall St. Cheat Sheet. Recently, I have been watching Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. (NDAQ). Sellers have become more aggressive since October. However, buyers have been protecting the ~$18.10 area since the start of 2009. When this happens, it sets the stage for a potential breakdown if the line of defense breaks. Psychologically, many who were buying at $18.10 and remaining calm will decide to cut losses if we head lower. NTII Faces Shareholder Pressure to Liquidate

Neurobiological Technologies, Inc. (NDAQ: NTII) suspended its stroke drug development, which prompted at least one activist shareholder to demand that value be returned to shareholders. Highland Capital, which owns 17.6% of the firm, sent a letter to the board demanding that the company liquidate its assets and distribute the proceeds to shareholders. I'd be the first to admit that I've made plenty of mistakes and bad predictions in my time. In most cases, I let ego or inexperience get in the way of good judgment, though sometimes it has been a matter of not having enough information. Silicon Valley stocks: Nasdaq falls, but AMD, Fortinet surge

Nov. 18--Most of Silicon Valley's largest tech stocks lost ground today along with the Dow and Nasdaq, but shares of Sunnyvale network security company Fortinet soared in Silicon Valley's first IPO of 2009.
Advanced Micro Devices, the Sunnyvale chip maker that competes with much larger rival Intel in the computer microprocessor market, jumped 70 cents, or 10.6 percent, to $7.32.
Among the valley's largest tech stocks by market value, Oracle was unchanged, and Apple, Google, Cisco Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Gilead Sciences, eBay, Yahoo and Adobe Systems declined.
