Positive News Out of RF Semi Names: TriQuint Semiconductor (TQNT) and Skyworks Solutions (SWKS)

No major fireworks out of Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) after hours so the stock is mildly up premarket. When I bought Skyworks I mentioned the "group of 4" (May 12, 2009: Beginning Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) I've never owned Skyworks Solutions before but in the late 90s I traded all 3 of its major competitiors - ANAD, TQNT, RFMD. If you ever want a laugh just pull up a 10 year chart on any of those 3 to see how "everyone was a genius" back around 1999. Notable Bankruptcies Of 2009: Q2

In January I predicted (see Notable Bankruptcies of 2009: Q1) that “major” bankruptcies in 2009 would challenge the 383 mark set in 2001 (the high-water mark after the dotcom bubble). I even suggested that it was possible that we could exceed 400 “major” bankruptcies in 2009. According to Bankruptcydata.com, there have been 156 “major” filings thus far in 2009. Assuming that bankruptcies are equally distributed throughout the year, this puts us on pace for 312 bankruptcies. That is tracking well shy of my prediction. In fact, bankruptcies were down significantly from Q1 to Q2, as there were 90 bankruptcies in the first quarter but only 66 in the second. Telecom Corporation of New Zealand Closes Online Shopping Business

Telecom Corporation of New Zealand has decided to close its online shopping mall Ferrit, to focus on the delivery of its core services.
Ferrit will stop taking online orders on January 14, but will continue to direct visitors to the retailers' own websites from its website.
Alan Gourdie, Telecom Corporation of New Zealand (Telecom) Retail CEO, said: "Telecom's aim in launching Ferrit was to help develop New Zealand's online retail market.
