General Electric (GE) cuts $0.50-$0.54 third quarter EPS guidance to $0.43-$0.48, reflecting "unprecedented" weakness and volatility in financial services markets.
Nike (NKE) posts better-than-expected $1.03, vs. $1.12 a year ago, first quarter EPS as absence of year ago $0.20 per share tax benefit offset 17% revenue rise, wider gross margin.
Discover Financial Services (DFS) posts $0.37, vs. $0.51 a year ago, third quarter EPS from continuing operations as provision for loan losses increased 80%, due to higher net charge-offs and a $113 million charge to increase loan loss reserves related to owned loan growth in the quarter, as well as a higher reserve rate.

Pharmacopeia to Request a Hearing With NASDAQ Following Receipt of Notice of Non-Compliance

Pharmacopeia today announced that it intends to request a hearing before a NASDAQ Listing Qualifications Panel to present a plan to regain compliance with NASDAQ Marketplace Rule 4450, which requires a minimum market value of listed securities of $50 million. On November 4, 2008, as expected, Pharmacopeia received a notice of non-compliance from the NASDAQ Staff indicating that the Company had not regained compliance with this rule and that the Company's common stock was subject to delisting unless the Company requests a hearing before a Panel. Pharmacopeia intends to request a hearing, which will automatically stay the delisting of the Company's common stock pending the issuance of the Panel's decision after the hearing. The Company plans to exercise diligent efforts to maintain the listing of its common stock on NASDAQ, but there is no assurance that it will be successful in doing so.[More...]

Pharmacopeia , an innovator in the discovery and development of novel small molecule therapeutics, today announced it received a notice on September 30, 2008 from The Nasdaq Stock Market indicating that the company is not in compliance with the continued listing requirements of The Nasdaq Global Market under Nasdaq Marketplace Rule 4450. The company received this notice because the market value of its listed securities was below $50 million for 10 consecutive trading days. The notice further states that the company is not in compliance with the alternative test under Nasdaq Marketplace Rule 4450, which requires total assets and total revenue of $50 million each for the most recently completed fiscal year or two of the last three most recently completed fiscal years. Pharmacopeia , an innovator in the discovery and development of novel small molecule therapeutics, has implemented the restructuring noted in its recent quarterly earnings release and conference call. This effort includes an immediate workforce reduction of approximately 40 percent through termination of positions. In May 2008, Pharmacopeia reduced its workforce by approximately 15 percent through attrition and termination of positions. With these two reductions, the company will have reduced its workforce in excess of 50 percent from previous levels.
