ProLogis (PLD)">PLD), one of the leading global providers of distribution facilities, has recently announced plans to develop a new 382,000 square feet distribution facility in Ebina, Japan. The facility would be developed for Kirin Logistics Co. Ltd., a premier Japanese third-party logistics company specializing in food and beverage industry.? ProLogis will develop the facility on a 10-acre land owned by it. Construction work on the project is scheduled to start in July 2009 and is expected to continue till 2010. According to the deal, ProLogis would earn construction management fees as well as property management fees for the site. ? Commercial Real Estate Loan Originations Show Continued Deterioration

The Mortgage Bankers Association has released their quarterly survey of commercial/multi-family loan originations, and it showed continued dramatic deterioration in all sectors, including an 80% plunge in bank lending. Earlier this week, I wrote that commercial real estate transaction volume had declined to practically zero, so it's no surprise that loan originations would show a concurrent decline, but that decline was precipitous: Q1 loan originations declined to the lowest quarterly level in the period. In addition to the 80% decline in bank lending, insurance company loan activity declined by 66% and GSE lending dropped by 26%. You know there are problems with your business when your stock is hammered despite doing something that appears to be very positive on the surface. I covered some ProLogis (PLD) (one of our 4 REITs) into the close yesterday as the stock was down 15%sh. This would be the 3rd round trip in just over a week (15% each trade!) in this massively volatile sector. State Regulators Advance Plan to Use Rooftops for Solar Power Systems

Jun. 19--State regulators Thursday approved a plan to generate 500 megawatts of solar power -- enough to meet the electricity needs of up to 320,000 households -- on the roofs of commercial buildings.
Southern California Edison Co. said the California Public Utilities Commission's approval sets the stage for the world's largest solar-cell rooftop installation and will help the utility comply with state mandates for renewable energy expansion and greenhouse gas reduction.
The five-year plan provides for half of the solar power to be developed by Southern California Edison.
