After steady selling through most of the day today, a broader selection of charts look good for short sales. Running through sectors, I was struck by the number of setups in the telecommunications and wireless sectors. In each case we have a rally off of the low that failed at significant resistance. The consistency of the pattern suggests that sector stocks will have trouble moving higher from this level. - MBT moved lower today on high volume, and has resistance in the 50.00 area. [More...]

Waiting For The Counter-Trend Rally

The nature of Friday's sell-off, coming as it did after a morning rally and House passage of the bailout bill, indicates we have more downside before we hit bottom. At the same time, oversold conditions make it difficult to find good short entries. To review a few charts:- IWM broke decisively below the January and March lows, although with slightly below average volume.- QQQQ has seen a steep drop and is now very oversold.[More...]

I am approaching with care, considering the distinct possibility of a strong counter-trend rally.- PTNR is sitting under resistance after a high volume drop earlier in the month.- MTH: Meritage Homes hit a low of 7.04 in January, and closed at 23.65 yesterday. Partner Communications Selects Jungo's OpenRG for New SmartBox Gateway

Jungo, a provider of broadband residential gateway software solutions, and Partner Communications, an Israeli mobile telecoms operator, have reached an agreement that sees Jungo integrating its OpenRG residential gateway software into Partner's new SmartBox home gateway, part of the operator's new home communications offering.
With Jungo's remote upgrade capability, an operator can load customized middleware onto deployed gateways from almost any vendor, and therefore can introduce new services without the need to replace its installed base.
OpenRG also provides a suite of functionalities to substantially reduce operational costs.

Partner Communications Announces Results of a Private Placement of Notes in Israel

Partner Communications Company Ltd. ("Partner" or "the Company") (Nasdaq:PTNR) (TASE:PTNR), a leading Israeli mobile communications operator, announced today that it had agreed with Israeli institutional investors to issue approximately NIS 448 million of unsecured non-convertible Series B notes (the "Notes") through a private placement in Israel (the "Offering").
As described more fully below, the interest rate on the Notes will be increased by 0.6% per annum until a prospectus or a shelf offering report is published for the listing of the Notes for trade on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ("TASE").
The Notes will be listed for trade on the "Institutional Retzef" a trading system for institutional investors in Israel.

Partner Communications Announces Its Intention to Issue Notes Through a Private Placement in Israel

Partner Communications Company Ltd. ("Partner" or "the Company") (Nasdaq: PTNR) (TASE: PTNR), a leading Israeli mobile communications operator, announces that it is initiating a process to raise approximately NIS 360 million through a private placement of up to two series of unsecured non-convertible Series B and Series C notes (collectively, the "Notes") to institutional investors in Israel (the "Offering").
The final amount that may be raised will be determined based on the results of the tender, as discussed below.
The principal amount of Series B Notes is expected to be repayable in four equal annual installments between 2012 and 2015 and bear interest at an annual rate of 5.5% until the listing of Series B Notes for trade on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ("TASE"), as discussed below.

Partner Communications Company Ltd. ("Partner" or "the Company") (Nasdaq:PTNR)(TASE:PTNR), a leading Israeli mobile communications operator, announced today that its Board of Directors approved the distribution of a dividend for the second quarter of 2009 in the amount of NIS 1.49 (38 US cent) per share (in total approximately NIS 230 million or US$ 59 million) to shareholders and ADS holders of record on September 30, 2009. The dividend is expected to be paid on October 13, 2009. For the first half of 2009, the dividend declared totaled NIS 467 million, compared to NIS 395 million declared for the first half of 2008, representing an increase of approximately 18%. This increase is a result of the transition from US GAAP to IFRS.[More...]
