Re-balancing For 2009

My first of the year rebalancing/repositioning is done. I haven't really made a lot of changes, but have consolidated and/or eliminated some smallish positions to keep it simpler. Bear in mind that my main goal these days is relative safety and fairly steady income with inflation protection for the future. I have both tax-deferred accounts and taxable accounts In tax-deferred accounts my goal is to generate income within them sufficient to fund IRS "Required Minimum Distributions" (RMD) which are based upon life expectancy. The IRS guarantees (to themselves) that everything in them **will be taxed**. Since taxes are quite likely to rise, I have little desire to increase the total value per se of such funds at this stage. All gains are taxed the same as income, and the IRS is a full partner. Both Route 1 shopping centers are anchored by Market Basket supermarkets, and plans are to keep both grocery outlets open, according to company officials.
Michael Kettenbach, from RMD, the real estate arm of the DeMoulas family businesses, told Seabrook's Planning Board members informally on Tuesday the company hopes to add between 25,000 and 30,000 square feet of retail space to the current 123,000-square-foot Southgate Plaza, which houses a 59,000-square-foot Market Basket supermarket.

San Diego, May 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ResMed Inc. today announced record revenue and income for the quarter ended March 31, 2009.
Diluted earnings per share for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 were $0.51, an increase of 34% compared to the quarter ended March 31, 2008.
