Indexes Do Not Tell The Tale Of Damage

First, pardon all the trading today - some days just require it. I'm already exhausted and its only 2 PM. Second, we've been saying the indexes are not reflecting the carnage seen "underneath" - my watch lists are full of names in the $500M to $5B market cap space which is my sweet spot, and it looks like September 2008 . Double Top Or Advance The Rock?

Strange days continue in this market... yesterday was a great example. Futures flat - and then an explosion of buying on no news within the first hour of the market being open. Why? Great question. You don't usually see the market move like that in advance of a Fed meeting. There was no news... but just a rally out of the blue. We are working on day 23 of 24 without a pullback of greater than 0.5% in the S&P 500... the rally itself here is not remarkable in of itself but the nature of it - without any serious pullback for even a session is. I am looking at a lot of individual charts and continue to be stared back with stocks on parabolic runs or stocks slowly breaking down, breaking support. But the general market is holding up - my watch list is not full of the type of merchandise that has been in favor the past two weeks so that could explain the divergence in what I am seeing versus the market doing fine. Shanda Interactive (SNDA): Weak

I've been trying to short Shanda Interactive (SNDA) for a week now but my limit orders appear to be pathetic. I like this setup as the stock has fallen below both the 50 and 20 day moving averages - in a steroid like strong market mind you - and the 20 day has crossed below the 50 (bearish). Since anyone attempting to short has had their teeth knocked out the past month, I wanted to place the limit order around the 50 day moving average so if I was wrong, my losses would be minute. I started this week with a $54 limit order, than went down to $53 Tuesday, and finally today placed the order just below $52. Why this stock could not spike just one day this week during all the rallies is beyond me. I'd be sitting pretty today. I am just highlighting this as a name of weakness... down 4% in a tape like this? Hmm... and it's not the only Chinese stock acting this way. [More...]

The shares dropped sharply on their first day of trading.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited , or Shanda, a leading interactive entertainment media company in China, today announced its unaudited consolidated financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2009.
Second Quarter 2009 Highlights(1) -- Consolidated net revenues increased 47.7% year-over-year and 11.8% quarter-over-quarter to RMB1,237.2 million (US$181.1 million), compared to the Company's previous guidance of quarter-over-quarter growth between 8% and 10%.
Earnings per diluted ADS were RMB6.14 (US$0.90), compared with RMB3.80 in the second quarter of 2008 and RMB5.28 in the first quarter of 2009.

Shanda Announces Plan for Confidential Submission of Draft Registration Statement for IPO of Shanda Games Limited

SHANGHAI, May 25 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited ("Shanda" or the "Company"), a leading interactive entertainment media company in China, announced today that it plans to submit a draft registration statement on a confidential basis to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (the "SEC") for a possible initial public offering (the "Proposed IPO") of Shanda Games Limited ("Shanda Games"), a Cayman Islands company which is currently wholly owned by the Company and operates the Company's online games business.
Shanda expects to remain Shanda Games' majority shareholder after the completion of the Proposed IPO.
The number of shares proposed to be offered and sold and the dollar amount proposed to be raised in the Proposed IPO have not yet been determined.
